The bank 'XY' is 150 years old. It is named after 'X' Bank of British South Africa(estd. 1862 by John Paterson) and the 'Y" Bank of India, Australia and China (estd. 1853 by James Wilson). These Banks merged in 1869 to form 'XY' Bank.

On March 29, 1824, King William I issued a decree creating the Nederlandsche handel- Maatschappij (NHM) with the aim of reviving trade between the Netherlands and the Dutch Est Indies. In 1964, NHM merged with the De Twentsche Bank to form 'X' while Amsterdamsche Bank and Rotterdamsche Bank joined to become 'Y'. In 1991, these two banks were merged as 'XY' Bank.

Wuthering heights was the only novel by Emily Bronte,and Anne Bronte used pseudonym Agnes Gray
